Sectors are pie-sliced divisions of a disk.A bad sector means part of the disk is physically damaged and that data cannot be read from or written to that sector.Sometimes data that is lost because of bad sector can be restored with utility programs designed for the purpose; if this fails, sometimes special hardware can be used to recover it.
