Octal |
Base-8 notation.Octal numbers use only the digits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7; the second column to the left is the 8 place.For example, 36 octal is 6 ones and 3 eights, or 30 decimal.Octal notation can be used as a shortcut for representing six-bit binary characters by converting each three bit into one octal digit, this way: 011 010 binary = 32 octal = 26 decimal.
