Unshielded Twisted Pair |
(UTP).The cable used for most telephone wire, and is also used for some computer-to-computer communications.It contains pairs of unshielded wires twisted together, and is a cheap and fairly noise-free way to transmit signals.In shielded twisted pair cable, each pair has a metal sheath around it for protection against interference.Unshielded twisted pair lacks the sheath, but has the advantage of being more flexible and thinner.
